Flood Ravages 62 Communities In Taraba

Sixty two communities were on Monday reported to have been ravaged by flood after a heavy downpour in Karim-Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State.


 According to Leadership, one of the affected residents, Isaac Hikon, revealed that the flood also destroyed over 7000 houses, seven bridges and over ten thousand farm lands.


He further explained that the torrential rainfall started at about 5am on Friday last week, and lasted for more than 12 hours, causing flooding in the major highway, especially the roads leading to the local government headquarter.download (8)


When the state acting executive Secretary of State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Mr. Paul Tino, was contacted, he disclosed that the acting governor, Alhaji Garba Umar, has ordered the immediate distribution of relief materials to affected people currently taking refuge in a school located in the area.


Umar promised them that the current administration would do everything humanly possible to make sure they get the required assistance.download (7)download (6)download (5)
